Dorman High School

This award is given to students who have completed a chemistry sequence or are in the second semester of a chemistry sequence. The student must also have completed or are in the second semester of either two semesters of biology or two semesters of physics. Two scholarships are available. One is a freshman scholarship that is given to a freshman as a rising sophomore who plans to stay at Spartanburg Methodist College. The second is a sophomore scholarship to be given to a sophomor for the college/university to which tthey intend to transfer.

On April 13, two SMC students presented their research at the 14th Annual SC Upstate Research Symposium, held at USC Upstate.

On April 3, 2018, 35 Spartanburg Methodist College students were inducted into Sigma Kappa Delta, the national English honor society for students at two-year colleges. Membership in Sigma Kappa Delta requires an overall G.P.A. of 3.3 with a B average in a minimum of one college course in English or literature.

On April 3, 2018, 20 Spartanburg Methodist College students were inducted into Psi Beta, the national psychology honor society for students at two-year colleges. Psi Beta members must have an overall GPA of 3.25 and completion of 12 academic hours with a B average in Psychology 101 and/or Psychology 201. A high standard of personal behavior and integrity is required.

On April 3, 2018, 17 Spartanburg Methodist College students were inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, the national scholastic honor society for students at two-year colleges. Members of Phi Theta Kappa must have an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher with a minimum of 16 academic hours. They must also be of good moral character and possess recognized good qualities of citizenship.

Clemson University has announced the Dean's List for the fall 2017 semester.

A total of 12,594 students enrolled during the 2017 fall semester at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 or above or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). The UA Dean's and President's lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.

Nearly 800 new and transfer students began their higher education at Hudson Valley Community College when the spring semester began on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

University of North Georgia President Bonita Jacobs recognizes students who achieved a 4.0 grade point average during the fall 2017 semester. Students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours in bachelor's degree programs who achieved a 4.0 grade point average were named to the President's Honor Roll. Students enrolled in associate degree programs who met the same level of achievement were named to the President's List.

Dr. Michael J. Sosulski, provost of Wofford College, has announced Dean's List students for the Fall 2017 semester.

Wofford's Interim is a time for exploration and experiential learning away from the rigors of traditional academic courses for students and faculty alike. Students may choose from a variety of on-campus courses, professional internships and research projects, study abroad opportunities or their own independent study project, approved and guided by a faculty adviser. More than 200 students chose to study abroad during Interim 2018.

Approximately 2.419 students have made the Fall Semester 2017 Dean's List for academic achievement at Coastal Carolina University. To qualify for the Dean's List, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade point average, and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 grade point average.

Coastal Carolina University has announced that 814 students made the President's honor list for high academic achievement for the 2017 Fall Semester. To qualify for the President's List, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average and must be enrolled full time.

52 students are spending the Spring 2018 semester away from Wofford College as part of the study abroad program.

SMC produced "Mr. Scrooge!," a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," during December 2017. This was the 37th consecutive year that Professor Lanny Lanford's musical was performed, and the sixth in a row at SMC.

SMC Theatre produced a modern retelling of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" in November 2017. The SMC production changed the setting of the play to the American West during the 1900s.

Pioneer Peers represent the ideals and mission of the college in behavior and spirit. Pioneer Peers serve as peer leaders for new students through SMC's Summer Orientation program, Pioneer Power Up, and in each section of SMC 101, SMC's Freshman Year Experience class.

Presidential Ambassadors are chosen to represent SMC on and off campus based on their leadership skills and involvement in student activities.
